WELCOME TO THE THORNEY PARK GOLF CLUB
Golf Club Update 09.04.20
The Golf Club is still shut but “essential work” is continuing.
As you can see by the photos to the left, the greens have been sanded but not too much. As you can see some of the hollow tine holes are still very visible. That is because we are taking advantage of having no traffic and allowing the maximum amount of air to get down to the roots before we put another layer of sand on top.
The weather is set to get warmer at the weekend next week so the grass will take off which is perfect for the recovery of the greens after the work.
Essential work is also being undertaken to ensure our irrigation system is fully function. Yes, unbelievable isn’t it. After all that rain over the winter we will still need a fully functioning irrigation system if rainfall is low over the summer. You can see from the photos that buggies are on the course to assist the work (one per person), so you can tell we will be ready for golf.
So things continue, albeit under different circumstances and always adhering to Government Advice. We will be playing golf again so I would advise that you keep your golfing muscles in shape. Even if you do a little stretching, a little chipping in the garden if you can, a few full shoulder turns of the top half of the body. By doing this we hopefully won’t have too many pulled muscles on the 1st tee after you try to smash your returning drive.
Speaking of the 1st drive back. Have a look at one of the photos to the left and let me know where you think your 1st drive back will finish and why email@example.com. Answers should contain lots of humour and the best answer will get a free sleeve of Callaway Supersoft balls (trust me I have enough in stock!! ha ha). So come on, join in and let’s have some fun.
